5 October 2008SIOUX CITY -- Robert Leonard Talsma of Bellflower, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2008.
Services will be held in California. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif. Condolences may be sent to 10403 E. Nichols, Bellflower, CA 90706.
Robert Leonard Talsma was born in Orange City, Iowa, on April 28, 1928, the second son of Frances Marie (Vander Stoep) and Julius Edward Talsma. He attended school in Orange City, moving to Sioux City in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved from Sioux City to California in 1947.
He married Ramona Agnes Kelly from Winona, Minn., on Oct. 5, 1951, in California. They resided in Bellflower, Calif. He retired from North American Rockwell International in the Los Angeles area after 40 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona of Bellflower; children, Roberta (Rick) Taylor, Greg Talsma and Grant (Leslie) Talsma; five grandchildren, all of California; a brother, Glenn Talsma of Yankton, S.D.; and sisters, Karilyn Merchant of DeMotte, Ind., Arta (Cordell) Hull of Walnut Creek, Calif., Mary (Clark) Godfrey of Sioux City, Judy (Everett) Verdoorn of Lone Tree, Colo., and Kay (Jim) Godfrey of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and a sister, Janice (Talsma) Fraser.

He will be missed greatly and remembered fondly by all.
