Gerald N. "Jerry" Nelson, 80, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, entered into God's kingdom March 25, 2008.

Memorial services will be 5:30 p.m. Friday in the clubhouse of the Sunwood Apartments, 9415 North 99th Avenue, Peoria, Ariz.

Jerry was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Sioux City. He graduated from Morningside College. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked in the beauty business for more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; a daughter, Debbie (Joe) Perkins; two grandchildren, Steve (Becky) Perkins and Alissa (Michael) Baker; three great-granddaughters, Mercy, Meryssa and Mylee Perkins; and a brother, Donald.

He was preceded in death by his son, Capt. Steve Nelson (USAF).
