Irma E. DeWald, 81, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at her residence with her family and hospice at her side.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Community United Methodist Church in Salix, Iowa, with the Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Irma was born March 30, 1924, in Aurelia, Iowa, the daughter of William and Iva (Ammons) Henley. She attended school in Linn Grove, Iowa. She was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove.

On Feb. 21, 1943, she married Warren DeWald of Armour, S.D., at the Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove. She was a homemaker her entire life. In 1986, they made their home in Salix, Iowa. They moved to Sioux City in March 2003.

She was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church in Salix.

Survivors include her husband, Warren; a son and his wife, Gary and Beverly DeWald of Mulvane, Kan.; a daughter and her husband, Connie and Joseph Behrendt of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Troy DeWald and his wife, Kimberly, Jason DeWald and his wife, Stephanie, Jill and her husband, Tom Barr, Craig Behrendt and Brian Behrendt; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Mason and Brycen; and two sisters, Mardelle Stroup of Estherville, Iowa, and Wanda Grote of Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice of Siouxland.
