8 December 2005Andrew H. Kruithoff Jr., 84, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.
Prayer services will be 7 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Weber officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Kruithoff was born Sept. 20, 1921, in South Sioux City, the son of Andrew H. and Olive (Kelly) Kruithoff Sr. He lived in South Sioux City until the age of 10, when the family moved to Sioux City. He attended Sioux City schools.
He married Alice Scheel on Aug. 27, 1950, in Sioux City. He worked for Armour and Co. until it closed, then for the U.S. Post Office for 17 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Monahan Post 64, the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of Sioux City; two sons, Kelly Kruithoff and Kim Kruithoff, both of Sioux City; three sisters, Minnie and her husband, Lloyd Steeg of Wester, Wis., Olive and her husband, Harold Rexroat of Osceola, Iowa, and Colleen Huff of Sioux City; and a sister-in-law, Irene Kruithoff of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harm, Carl, Kenneth and Hans; and two sisters, Opal and Violet.
