James Joseph McNeill, 73, of Redwood, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Oct. 28, 2005, in Redwood.

Private services were held in California.

Jim was born in Sioux City. He was in the first graduating class from Heelan High School in 1950. He also attended Creighton University in Omaha. He joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in the Marshall Islands during the development of the nuclear bomb. During his service with the 4009th Air Base Squadron, he developed a lifelong love of planes, flying and electronics.

He moved to California in 1963 and became an electrician with the IBEW Union 32. He later started Sunnyvale Electric, a residential and industrial electronical contracting business.

He will be missed by his daughter, Tara McNeill Palajac and her husband, Bill Palajac; a sister, Patricia McNeill Sheppard and her husband, Bob Sheppard; a nephew, David McNeill Luna; and many friends.

He was a lover of all animals and any donations should be made to the local animal shelter.
