Eileen V. Weitzel, 86, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpeling officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Weitzel was born May 27, 1919, in Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Lunde) Dorman. She moved with her family to Wittenberg, Wis., when she was an infant. She grew up in Wittenberg and graduated from the University of Wisconsin.

She married Walter W. Weitzel on Oct. 11, 1949, in Madison, Wis. He died March 12, 1985, in Sioux City. She had moved to Sioux City in 1951 and had lived here since. She worked for the Woodbury County Department of Motor Vehicles from 1964 to 1986.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed Scrabble, dominos, bird watching, traveling and spending time with her family. She liked to go to the Riverboat Casino.

Survivors include six children and spouses, Loren and Patricia Weitzel of Sioux City, Mary and Michael Mueller of Lawton, Iowa, Tom and Lynette Weitzel of Moville, Iowa, Keith Weitzel of Primghar, Iowa, William and Marcia Weitzel of Eagen, Minn., and Brent and Fay Weitzel of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Elmer and Arletta Crowell of Wittenberg, Wis.; 13 grandchildren, Rod, Rick, Shannon, Brooke, Travis, Corey, Jillian, Jeremy, Tracy, Ally, Jason, Justin and Brandon; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Linda, Ellie, Chuck, Herb, David and John.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Charlotte and Jean.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
