DENISON, Iowa -- Ronald L. Schimmer, 65, of Denison was found dead Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Robert Schimmer officiating. Burial will be in Danbury Catholic Cemetery, Danbury, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ronald Lawrence Schimmer was born Dec. 9, 1939, in Danbury, Iowa, the son of Lawrence F. and Gertrude (Collins) Schimmer. He grew up in Danbury, where he graduated from Danbury Catholic High School with the class of 1958. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and worked for Safeway.

In February 1966, he married Jackie Wise at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. They made their home in Denison, where he owned and operated Schimmer Oil Company from 1969 to 2004.

He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Road Runner Motorcycle Club.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Michelle Schimmer and Steve Foos of Omaha; two sons, Mike Schimmer of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Shane Schimmer of Denison; five grandchildren, Addam, Ericka, Tyler, Noah and Hanna; his mother, Gertrude Schimmer of Danbury; and a brother and his wife, LeRoy and Judy Schimmer of Ida Grove, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father.
