Donald Dean Trostheim, 71, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Oakland Cemetery, Forest City, Iowa, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Donald was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Scarville, Iowa, to Julius and Jenny (Jordan) Trostheim. He grew up and attended school in Forest City. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951, during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955.

After his discharge, he came to the Sioux City area, where he worked at various jobs. He also worked at the Sioux City and South Sioux City Foundrys, where he poured iron for 19 years.

He was a member of the South Sioux City American Legion Post 307.

He is survived by three sisters, Helen Martin of Mason City, Iowa, Marian Trostheim of Sioux City and Lucille and her husband, Donald Meyers of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ernest and Robert; and six sisters, Mildred Denny, Gladys Knudsen, Esther Earlywine, Doris Touchgraber, Alice Adams and Margaret Book.
