Kathy J. Haines, 45, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Sunday, April 17, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Russell Senstad of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. There will be no visitation.

Kathy was born Nov. 4, 1959, in San Diego, Calif., the daughter of George and Mary (Krause) Lawton. The family moved several times during her childhood before she moved to Le Mars, Iowa, to attend Westmar College. She later moved to Sioux City.

She married James E. Haines on March 9, 2004, in Elk Point, S.D.

She loved life and all the people she met, especially the company of her co-workers. She enjoyed walking, fishing, camping, AA meetings and sewing clothes for family members. She started "Clothes For Orphans," supplying Russian Orphanages with clothing.

She is survived by her husband, James; a son, Brandon Chapple of Sioux City; her mother, Mary Lawton of Santa Rosa, Calif.; her twin sister, Susan Wilshire of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, John and Trishell Lawton of Omaha; and her parents-in-law, Jim and Rosalie Haines of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Ann; and her first husband, Tom Chapple.
