John R. Moore Jr., 77, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Spirit of Life Lutheran Church in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Gary Harris officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

John was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Paragould, Ark., the son of John and Effie (Sweet) Moore. He attended Paragould School through the eighth grade. At age 16, he enlised in the U.S. Army and served in occupied Japan. He was honorably discharged in July 1946.

John married Joyce O'Bannon in Hernado, Mo., on March 4, 1955. The family moved to Sioux City and decided to make this their home. John attended Greene County Tech School, but the love of music got in the way. John played music at various clubs and worked with the Town and Country Band. He also worked at Fimco Inc. in the parts department and retired in 1992.

John had many happy memories of fishing and camping with his family and friends during the years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; a son, James Daniel O'Bannon; two daughters, Victoria Lynn and her husband, Craig Littlejohn of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Linda Jean and her husband, Gary Ezell of Jonesboro, Ark.; five grandchildren, Jason (Doreen) Moore, Jeremiah (Angie) Collins, Jamie (Adrian) Padilla, Greg (Annie) Breuer and Candice Brown; six great-grandchildren, Kourtney, Rebekkah and Riley Moore, Allyson Padilla, Jasmine Breuer and Corwin Brown; two brothers, Joseph Moore and his wife, Wanda of Kansas City, Mo., and Daniel of Paragould, Ark.; two sisters, Betty Lou Palmer and Martha Ann Adams, both of Paragould; a sister-in-law, Peggy L. Aufrecht of Blytheville, Ark.; and a nephew, Bill Aufrecht of Blytheville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Johnny Olan Moore.
