CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Wilma Groszkrueger, 74, of Correctionville died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Sheryl Ashley officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Midway, rural Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa.

Wilma Irene Groszkrueger was born Nov. 10, 1930, in Correctionville, the middle daughter of William Walter and Lura Mae (Harrison) Wechler. She was raised in Correctionville and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1949. After high school, she completed Ellis Cosmetology School in Sioux City.

On Jan. 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to James Alfred Groszkrueger, the son of Alfred and Lilly (Mahrt) Groszkrueger, in Correctionville. The couple had six children, Robert, twins Marc and Marcia, Julie, Mary and Jill. She worked as a bookkeeper for George Isbell in Correctionville, then for CM Corporation in Sioux City and for Midwest Continental in Sioux City before retiring in 1992. James passed away Nov. 16, 1998, at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown.

She enjoyed cooking and baking, and shared homemade cookies and candies at Christmas time with family and friends. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to family gatherings when everyone could be home. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, playing handheld video games and watching Court TV. As a special gift to her children and grandchildren, she authored a family cookbook and a pictorial family history, which are treasured heirlooms.

Survivors include her sons, Robert and Blanche of Jefferson, S.D. and Marc and Deb of Correctionville; daughters, Marcia and Byron Petersen of Mapleton, Iowa, Julie Groszkrueger, Mary and Gary Caskey and Jill Susie, all of Correctionville; seven grandchildren, Britton Petersen of Earlham, Iowa, Heidi and her husband, Joe Roberts of Albert City, Iowa, Kami Knisley of Early, Iowa, Hillary and her husband, Peter Seuntjens of Danbury, Iowa, Brad Groszkrueger and his wife, Nicki of Lytton, Iowa and John Susie and Kayla Susie, both of Correctionville; two stepgrandsons, Tim Morrison of Moville, Iowa, and Jim Morrison of Jefferson, S.D.; four great-grandchildren, Alan and Cole Groszkrueger and Lacey Roberts of Albert City, Iowa, and Brady Seuntjens of Danbury, Iowa; a great-stepgranddaughter, Kailey Becker of Lytton, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Marvel and Russell Koskovich of Correctionville and Lila and Bob Bueermann of Beaverton, Ore.; as well as many other relatives, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, William and Lura Wechler; and a grandson, Derek Groszkrueger.
