Marie Esther Snyder, 82, of Sioux City died Friday, April 1, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Krishen Persaud officiating. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Marie was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Wagner, S.D., the daughter of Roy L. and Clara (Cozad) Wright. She was raised in Wagner. She graduated from high school and continued her education at Southern Teachers College. She moved to Sioux City in 1943. She taught in South Dakota and Iowa.

She married Laurin "Phil" Snyder on Nov. 19, 1959, in Sioux City.

She was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was active in the Heart Association, serving as area chairman and chairman of the city. She also was a member of the First Heart Fund board. She loved spending time with her family and playing bridge.

Survivors include her husband, Laurin "Phil" Snyder of Sioux City; a grandson and his wife, Troy and Nicole Meyer of Denver, Colo.; and two great-grandsons, Jake and Owen Meyer, both of Denver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, LeRoy Meyer; a brother, Alvie Wright; and a sister, Clara Sell.
