HUBBARD, Neb. -- Marvin E. Rasmussen, 84, of Hubbard died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hubbard, with the Rev. Dick Whiteing officiating. There will be a military flag presentation by American Legion Harty-McNally Post 175 at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Hubbard. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.

Marvin was born March 24, 1920, in Hubbard, the son of Axel and Mae (White) Rasmussen. He graduated from Hubbard High School in 1938 and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He married Helen J. Reilly on Nov. 12, 1945, in Hubbard. He was a lifelong resident and farmer in the Hubbard area.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hubbard, Knights of Columbus, Father Trecy Council and the American Legion Harty-McNally Post 175. He was a former member of the ASCS for 22 years and a 4-H member and 4-H leader.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen; two sons, Eugene of Ankeny, Iowa and Mark and his wife, Joyce of McCallsburg, Iowa; a daughter, Carol Pennell of Hubbard; a brother, Howard and his wife, Petronella of Hubbard; six grandchildren, Matthew, Tony Jr. and Tracy Pennell, Rebecca, Lucinda and Laura Rasmussen; and two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Payge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; and a grandchild, Lea.

Pallbearers will be Tom Nettleton, Larry Reilly, Mike Spencer, Jim Walsh, Dave Mellick and Gary Ericksen.
