Lorraine Labelle Thomas, 88, of Sioux City went home to the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital after a month-long illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Sisseton, S.D. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will begin today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and continue until service time Friday at the Sisseton Community Hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Lorraine was born June 2, 1916, in Peever, S.D., to Daniel and Ella (Renville) LaBelle. She was an enrolled member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe. She was of the Episcopal faith and grew up in Sisseton.

She lived in Minneapolis before moving to Hastings, Neb., where she met and married John A. Thomas on Aug. 18, 1944. He died Sept. 13, 1978, in Sioux City.

She worked for Standard Brands in Sioux City for 17 years. She enjoyed making star quilts, being with family on picnics and going boating.

She is survived by four daughters, Janice Saul and her children, Byron, Leland, Chanon, Joannie, Colin and John, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Carmen) Wabasha and her children, Michael, Robin, Carleen, Roland, Waylon, Devin and Tirell, Judy Grant and her son, Robert, and Sharon Dick and her children, Jamie, Leannah, Landon and Lanelle; a sister, Ethel Aguilar of Savannah, Okla.; 60 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters; grandchildren, Michelle Saul and Rodney Dick; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Thomas and Marcus Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Robert Grant Jr., Michael Thomas, Roland Thomas, Waylon Wabasha, Tirell Wabasha and Devin Wabasha. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Lund Jr., Nikolas Saul, Mairo Aldrich, Jordan Thomas, Adrian Lund, Byron Saul and John Saul.
