Donald L. Gamm, 73, of Beaumont, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont, with the Rev. Fred Kelm officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gamm was born April 21, 1931, in Arlington, Iowa, to John and Anna (Burrack) Gamm. He married Darlene Weidemann on June 20, 1954, and had just celebrated 50 wonderful years of married life. The couple had lived in Sioux City for 23 years. He retired from Northwestern Bell after 33 years of service and retired to Bella Vista, Ark. There is where he began his second career as a owner/broker of a real estate agency. He later owned Estate Auction Business. The couple later moved from Bella Vista to Beaumont.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and was very active in the American Legion, being a lifetime member in Hinton, Iowa. He was extremely active in the Shrines helping crippled children. He was a 32nd degree Mason and over the years was active in his local church, serving on numerous committees. In Beaumont, he was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He will be remembered for his strong faith, his strong work ethics, his self-taught intellect and his unconditional love and devotion to his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Beaumont; a son and his wife, Darwin and Martha Gamm of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; a daughter and her husband, Deanna and Dwight Courts of Beaumont; three wonderful grandchildren, Emily and Alison Gamm and Dustin Courts; a brother, Ted Gamm of Wabashaw, Minn.; and three sisters, Evelyn Brown of Nokomis, Fla., LaVon Biederman and Dorothy Nesteby, both of Elkader, Iowa.

Memorials may be sent to the Hinton (Iowa) Scholarship Fund, the Shriners Transportation Fund or the Beaumont Redeemer Lutheran Church.
