M. Gertrude Lennon, 100, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Allen A. Reicks officiating. Graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Mary Gertrude was born Aug. 5, 1904, in Wagner, S.D., the daughter of James J. and Catherine (Bradley) Hassenger. She was raised in South Dakota and moved to Sioux City after graduating from high school.

She married C. Melvin Harter in 1924, in Sioux City. He died Dec. 15, 1938, in Sioux City. She married Richard B. Lennon in 1961, in Omaha. He died March 31, 1968, in Sioux City.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for Cudahay's Packing Co., then for F.W. Cone Livestock Co. She retired from Producer Livestock Community Co. in 1974.

She was a charter member of the Stockettes. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America Ave Maria Court 269. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

Survivors include two daughters, Maureen Soliday of West Des Moines and Ellen K. and her husband, Joe Cosgrove of Sioux City; three stepsons and two stepdaughters, Michael, Robert and Richard Lennon, Sally Deaton and Eileen Prochelo, all of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, Luke Cosgrove.

Pallbearers will be Noah and Ric Krommenhoek, Zac Cosgrove and Jason, Jon and Joshua Soliday.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the Blessed Sacrament School Education Fund.
