Vera E. Klemmensen, 87, of Sioux City died Friday, March 25, 2005, at Westwood Nursing & Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Raymond Wieling officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel.

Vera E. Klemmensen was born May 14, 1917, in Moville Township in Woodbury County to Chris and Agnes (Scheelhause) Schiever.

She married Alvin Klemmensen on Jan. 17, 1940, in Sioux City. He died March 26, 1968, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Sioux City area a few years prior to moving into Sioux City in 1949.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Virgil and Terry Klemmensen of Sioux City, and Irvin and Nannette Klemmensen of Jacksonville, Ill.; four daughters and their husbands, Loretta and Ed Witters of Kirkland, Ill., Donna and Ken Thompson of North Pole, Alaska, Elvera and Doug Guillaume of Sioux City, and Darlene and Dan Richer of Hill City, S.D.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Rogers of Lawton, Iowa; and a brother and his wife, Kenneth and Loretta Schiever of Climbing Hill, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, five brothers and four sisters.
