SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- April Joy Claassen, 26, of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Dakota City, with the Rev. Karen Kaye officiating. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Rosehill Cemetery, Emerson, Neb. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

April was born May 18, 1980, in Minden, Neb., the daughter of Rick D. and Jackie L. (Rager) Claassen. She graduated from Homer (Neb.) High School and received her associate's degree from Norfolk Community College. She was presently employed as a baker at the Singing Hills Wal-Mart Store in Sioux City.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed NASCAR racing and loved to be an "Ant Apee."

Survivors include her parents of Dakota City; a brother and his fiancee, Justin Claassen and Kristy Havlik of Dakota City; a sister, Vicki Claassen of South Sioux City; paternal grandparents, Dean and Mary Claassen of Emerson, Neb.; maternal grandparents, Bob and JoAnn Rager of Emerson; a nephew, Auston Surber; a niece, Kassandra Claassen; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Travis and Tyson Bodlak, Kody and Zeth Rager, Michael Claassen, Shane and Ryan Koepke and Brent Kubik.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to remember April with a memorial in her name to a charity of your choice.
