Hollas N. Watkins Jr., 76, of Sioux City died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hubbard, Neb. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 7 p.m. followed by a Scriptural wake service, at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Mr. Watkins was born May 28, 1928, in Hubbard, Neb., the son of Hollas and Mary (Sullivan) Watkins. He married Doris A. Chase on Jan. 8, 1949, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hubbard. He was employed with Swift Packing for 21 years and for other trucking firms until retiring in 1970 due to poor health.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the AFL-CIO union.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; six sons, Stephan Watkins of South Sioux City, Kevin Watkins, David Watkins and his wife, Tracey, Tom Watkins and John Watkins and his wife, Jody, all of Sioux City and Jeff Watkins and his wife, Alicia of Tea, S.D.; six daughters, Terri Watkins of Sioux City, Mary Saunders of South Sioux City, Susan and her husband, Ron Moore and Carrie and her husband, Don Rustin, all of Sioux City, Judy and her husband, Doug Kunze of Underwood, Iowa, and Julie and her husband, Bob Carrier of Rock Island, Ill.; five brothers, John of Blair, Neb., Robert of Kalispell, Mont., Elmer of South Sioux City, Jerry of Hubbard and Raymond of Sioux City; a sister, Mary Starzl of Emerson, Neb.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy; a daughter, Laurie; two brothers, Charlie and Lawrence; and a son-in-law, George Saunders.

Pallbearers will be David, Tom, Jeff, Eric, Kevin and Stephan Watkins and Chad Saunders.
