Clifton Henderson, 69, of Sioux City died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Floyd E. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Henderson was born Sept. 15, 1936, in Colquitt, Ga., the son of Charlie and Callie (Hayes) Henderson.

He married Mary Louise Ford on Sept. 12, 1971, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death on June 3, 1984, in Sioux City.

He was employed with John Deere Company for several years. More recently, he worked at Iowa Beef.

He was an active volunteer with the soup kitchen. He was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church and attended Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Pugh of Waterloo, Iowa, Patricia and her husband, Christopher Lewis and Esther Henderson, all of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters, Ester Holmes of Donaldsonville, Ga., and Goldie and her husband, Harry Griffin of Dakota City; a brother, Jessie Henderson of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tamikka Bradford, Erika Pugh, Shirleka Pugh and Mary Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Henry, Autry, Levi, David and Watson Henderson; and four sisters, Lola Mae Josey, Peach Ola Henderson, Millan Benton and Dot Henderson.
