Alan D. LaTourette, 73, of Sioux City died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at his residence.

Private family services will be at the residence. Visitation with the family present will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Following visitation, Alan will be cremated.

Alan D. LaTourette was born May 21, 1932, in Michigan City, Ind., the son of Charles and Evelyn (Bush) LaTourette. He grew up in Michigan City and graduated from Elston High School in 1950. He attended Purdue University until joining the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and retired after 21 1/2 years of service.

He married Leah M. Simmons on July 3, 1954. She died on May 16, 1990. He married Sharon (Simmons) Quinlain on April 1, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nev. Alan was a self-employed appliance repairman in Florida for 20 years. He also dealt blackjack at Winn-A-Vegas and the Belle of Sioux City after his retirement from the Air Force.

He enjoyed fishing, shooting darts, playing blackjack and tinkering around the house.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Sioux City; four children, Howard of Miami, Fla., Linda Cole and her husband, Dave of Satellite Beach, Fla., Douglas and his wife, Susie of Valdosta, Ga., and David of Satellite Beach; a stepdaughter, Lori Dropko and her husband, John of Davenport, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Ruth Schultz of Michigan City; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces; five brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles; a nephew, Tom LaTourette; and an uncle, Howard Bush.
