Minnie M. Farr, 85, of Sioux City died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a 4 p.m. rosary by Catholic Daughters of America and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Minnie was born in Sioux City on May 19, 1919, to John and Mary (Urbanos) Shinkunas. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. Minnie joined the U.S. Navy Waves during World War II and was very proud of her military service.

In 1944, she married Harold Kenneth Farr in Washington, D.C. He passed away in 1954. Minnie worked in the civil service as an administrative assistant during the 1970s at Fort Bragg, N.C..

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and was very active in the rosary society. Minnie enjoyed baking and sewing, but most of all, her son and his family.

Survivors include a son, H. Kenneth Farr of Boston, Mass.; three grandchildren, Timothy Farr of Harlem, Ga., Andrew Farr and Margaret Grasso of Somerville, Mass.; as well as three great-grandchildren.

Preceding Minnie in death were her parents; her husband, Harold Kenneth Farr; and three brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
