SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Irene E. Zobel, 80, of South Sioux City died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Private graveside services will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Osmond, Neb. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Irene was born July 2, 1925, in Osmond, Neb., the daughter of Harry and Anna (Ertzner) Thomsen. She graduated from Norfolk High School in Norfolk, Neb., in 1942.

She married Wayne A. Zobel on Dec. 30, 1945, in Osmond. The couple moved to South Sioux City from Norfolk in 1963.

She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in South Sioux City.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne; a daughter and her husband, Diane and Lonnie Ehrhardt of Wayne, Neb.; two sons, Roger Zobel and his wife, Bernie, of Grand Island, Neb., and David Zobel of Lincoln, Neb.; four sisters, Evelyn McClain, Helen Thomsen, Violet Veik and Margie Thomsen, all of Osmond; six grandchildren and spouses, Rob and Tena Zobel, Jason and Kelli Ehrhardt, Amy, Melissa and Jonathan Ehrhardt and Drew Zobel; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Earl Thomsen.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and their spouses.

Memorial in her memory may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, 218 W. 18th Street, South Sioux City, NE. 68776.
