SIOUX CITY – Marie A. Scott, 94, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Sioux City passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Countryside Senior Living facility.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with Jay Denne of First Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to christysmith.com

Marie A. Sandrock was born Oct. 27, 1914, in Coleridge, Neb., to Konrad and Elizabeth (Bohlken) Sandrock. She attended and graduated from high school in Laurel, Neb. With the class of 1932.

On Feb. 12, 1939, she and Roswell “Bud” Hauswirth were married in Coleridge. To this union Fred and Duane were born. Bud passed away in June 1951. She later married Howard Scott on Oct. 1, 1960, in Sioux City. Howard passed away in 1988.

She worked in the O.B. Department at St. Luke’s Hospital for more than 30 years as a nurse’s aide/

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening; working with her flowers and was an avid Cubs fam. She loved to cook and make every holiday a special occasion for her family. Her family was most important to her. She made the lived on everyone she touched brighter and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Fred Hauswirth and his wife, Mary of Sioux City and Duane Hauswirth and his wife, Karen of Chino Valley, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Michele Volponi, Scott Fulmer, Fred Fulmer and his wife, Lamona, Lisa Hauswirth, Debra Breaman, Charles Hauswirth and his wife, Laura and Deanna and her husband, Kessler Tarant; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Burgel of Hartington, Neb.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bud and Howard; four sisters; and a brother.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Countryside Retirement Home for their tender care of Marie.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland and/or First Lutheran Church.
