Janice Thompson Marsh, 93, of Sun City West, formerly Sioux City, passed away on May 29, 2018.

A celebration of her life will be Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at Lifepoint Church in Tucson, Ariz. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through janmarshmemorial@gmail.com.

Jan was born on Feb. 21, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Art and Mildred Thompson. She attended school in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School in 1943. She attended Morningside College until June of 1945, when she was united in marriage to Elwin Marsh in San Luis Obispo, Calif., where Elwin was stationed during World War II.

They returned to their hometown of Sioux City, where they raised their family. For several years, Janice worked in the office at Hoover Middle School. Elwin and Jan were members of the Sioux City Boat Club and First Congregational Church of Sioux City. Jan was a long-time member of P.E.O. Chapter EY. After Elwin retired from Sioux City Optometric Center, they moved to Sun City West, where they enjoyed the warm weather and then spent their summers at their canyon home outside of Rapid City, S.D.

Jan loved to play bridge and to play the organ. She also loved to take pictures of her family and friends and was always their biggest cheerleader.

She is survived by a son, Rick (Jane) Marsh of Westminster, Colo.; a daughter, Debbie (Doug) Reif of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy (Steve) Marsh of Omaha; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Marsh Pavlik of Fishers, Ind., Brant (Molly) Reif of Des Moines, Iowa, Vanessa (Chris) Reif Warren of Tucson, Lance (Justine) Reif of Peshastin, Wash., Ben (Nozomi Sasada) Marsh of Breckenridge, Colo., and Brad Marsh of Breckenridge; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Rachel and Luke Warren, Max and Noah Reif, Brooks Pavlik and Hailey and James Marsh; a niece, Pam Mahaney; and grand nephew, Brandon (Heather) Carr.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwin Marsh; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob (Shirley) Thompson; and a son, Steve Marsh.
