Gladys N. Nyhus, 67, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at a local care center.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Gladys was born Jan. 26, 1951, in Johnson, Kan., the daughter of George and Lorene (Gray) Thompson. She grew up in Stanton, Neb., and later moved with her family to Colerige, Neb., graduating from Laurel High School.

Gladys attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City. She worked as a physical therapy nurse in Oklahoma, and after moving to Sioux City, Gladys worked as a nurse for various nursing homes.

Gladys enjoyed crocheting and fishing, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Faith Based Non-Denominational Church and Al Anon.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Nyhus of Sioux City; children, Scott (Melinda) Thompson of Pryor, Okla., Georgia Crouch of Sioux City, Dianne (Sam) Sattizahn of Sioux City, Donnie (Ashley) Davis of Sioux City, and Richie Davis of Sioux City; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jean Thompson and Dollie Thomas, both of Seward, Neb.; brothers, George R. (Sheryl) Thompson of Lake City, Mich., and Tim T. (Debra) Thompson of Osmond, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Marie Acton.
