Gladys A. "Glad" Hill, 99, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Morningside Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Glad was born on Jan. 18, 1919, at a Sioux City hospital, the daughter of John G. and Albertena (Jahr) Foye. She married John A. Hill on Feb. 23, 1941 in the Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Neb.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church since 1946 and over the years held several positions in the church as a Sunday school teacher, secretary and treasurer of the women's group, assistant head usher at the 10:15 a.m. service for more than 10 years and volunteered in the church office. She was the charter member and past president of the Lioness Club, apast president of the United Commercial Travelers Club, a member of the Sioux City Women's Club, devoted contributor of the S.T.E.M.M. Mission Group, volunteered at Ronald McDonald House, Sunrise Retirement for more than 15 years, St. Luke’s Library North Park, Harvest Morningside Home Bingo, and worked several years on the Foreign Visiting Program with her husband, John, through the Chamber of Commerce Foreign Affairs. She also boarded welfare babies for more than five years. Glad was also awarded the Lloyd Bauch Service Award for Christ at Morningside Lutheran Church as well as a nationally recognized award from the Ronald McDonald House for her many years of volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House of Siouxland.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Kaj (Jodi) Doerring, Lief, Kurt, and Beth Doerring; four great-grandchildren, Blake Alvin, Zachary Lee, Grace Rose, and Dmitri Doerring; and loving friend and helper, Bob Derflinger.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Sharin Hill Doerring.
