Lois A. James, 74, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, following a brief illness.

In accordance to her wishes, her body has been cremated. Memorial services will be noon Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Lois was born on Jan. 10, 1944, in Sioux City, to Charles M. and Fern E. (McPherson) Carnes. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School in 1962, and began her career as a secretary.

Lois was employed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 26 years, and also worked for IMT Insurance Co. and the billing department of Mercy Home Care. She retired in 2004.

Lois lived her life as a strong, independent, decisive person. Family and friends were very important to her. She dearly loved cats and enjoyed Missy as a loving pet for 20 years. Snowflake was also her very special feline pet.

Survivors include her longtime companion, Terry Baxter; her children, Jeff James and Stephani (Scott) Klemme; grandchildren, Sara, Jack, Katie and Brock; great-grandsons, Wyatt and Kayln; sisters, Fern Wieland and her children, Scott and Leigh Ann (Roberto) of Tennessee, and Mary Jane Morgan (Robert) of Arkansas.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn granddaughter; and daughter-in-law, Trinca Kinnetz-James.
