Smithland – Charles M. Hair, 88, Correctionville, formerly of Smithland, died Dec. 14 at a Correctionville nursing home following a long illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Valley View Colonial Manor Chapel at Correctionville. The Rev. Martin L. Mosier of Billy Sunday will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City under the direction of the Willman funeral Home of Rodney.

Mr. Hair was born Oct. 25, 1886, in South Dakota. He married Louise Groteke Jan 18, 1918, at Gladbook. She died Sept. 12, 1927. He married Mae Mace Sept. 17, 1931. She died Jan. 23, 1956. He married Lola Berka Jan. 16, 1958, at Onawa.

He farmed in the Moville area for many years. He moved to Smithland in 1949 where he operated a grocery store and café.

He had been a resident of Valley View Colonial Manor at Correctionville the past two months.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Jim of Hornick; two daughters, Mrs. Fern Wright of Eldora and Mrs. Mina Schmidt of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
