Mass funeral services for Thomas DeWitt, 46, his wife, Inez Marie, 41, their son, Thomas DeWitt, 15, and daughter Barbetta Irene, 7, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 1962, at the Climbing Hill High School auditorium. The Rev. Virgil Petersen, of Moville, officiated and burial was made in the Climbing Hill cemetery under the direction of the W. Harry Christy funeral home Morningside.

Pallbearers were Mark Cornils, Steve Smith, Vincent O’Connell, Leo Stickey, Ray McCoy and Dean Unkel.
Mr. Beem was born February 24, 1916 at Hornick where he had farmed during his lifetime. He was a director of the Hornick bank and a member of the First Christian Church at Holly Springs, Iowa.

Mrs. Beem was born June 30, 1921, at Oto. She was married to Mr. Beem June 13, 1941 at North Platte, Nebr. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Climbing Hill.
Beem Survivors

Survivors of Mr. and Mrs. Beem include two sons, Clifford of Iowa State University Ames and Bryan David at home; two daughters, Mrs. Annzonetta Nichols and Miss Donna Marie, both of Hornick and two grandchildren.

In addition, survivors of Mrs. Beem include his mother, Mrs. Anna Marie Beem of Hornick; three brothers, Ernest of Hot Springs, S.D., and Arthur and Edwin of Hornick, two sisters, Mrs. Frances Knorr of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mrs. Lewis Eichorn of Lake View, Iowa.

Survivors of Mrs. Beem include her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Moss of Moville; three brothers, Bryan W. Moss of Denver, Colo., Jimmie J. Moss of Moville and Joe B. Moss of Omaha, and four sisters, Mrs. Vona Leney of Alvin, Tex. Mrs. Jeanette Clift of Hornick, Mrs. Robinette McCabe of San Mateo, Calif. and Mrs. Joan Oder of Sacramento, Calif.

Thomas was born November 17, 1946, in Sioux City. He was a sophomore at Woodbury Central school and active in football, tack and baseball. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Climbing Hill.

Barbetta was born April 19, 1955 in Sioux City. She was in the second grade at Woodbury Central school was a member of the First Baptist church, Climbing Hill.
