Hartley, Iowa – Alan Baird, 67, of Holly, Colo., formerly of Hartley, died Monday in a hospital in Garden City, Kan.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. The Rev. Clair Kerns will officiate. The Baumgarten Funeral Home of Hartley is in charge.

Mr. Baird was born April 28, 1918, in Moville and attended area schools. He married Helen Fitzer July 17, 1938, in Hartley. They lived in Hartley from 1938 to 1955 when they moved to Olivia, Minn., and most recently had been living in Holly.

He was a farmer and drainage contractor.

Mr. Baird was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Davidson of Minneapolis and Kathryn Harrier of Bismarck, N.D.; four sons, Steven of Lincoln, Neb., Clifford of Calloway, Neb., Stanley of St. Louis, Mo., and Galen of Independence, Kan.; his mother, Mrs. Clara Baird of Santa Susanna, Calif.; three brothers, Marvin of Hutchinson, Kan., Bob of Spirit Lake and Bruce of Globe, Ariz.; six sisters, Elizabeth Imwiehe of Paullina, Merle Olson of Phoenix, Ariz., Elaine Downey of Red Bluff, Calif., Margaret Downey of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Margery Parker of Independence , Mo., and Beverly Blackman of Santa Susanna; seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
