SIOUX CITY | Gerald Raymond Hatler, 80, of Kingsburg, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, in Kingsburg, after a battle with cancer.

Services will be 9 a.m. Monday in Kingsburg Cemetery. Arrangements are with Creighton Memorial Chapel in Kingsburg.

Jerry was born in Sioux City to Leonard and Georgia Hatler. He joined the U.S. Navy and was a seabee during the Korean War.

He spent 60 years in the construction industry as a superintendent and project manager. His knowledge about the field was immense.

He was a craftsmen by trade, making woodworking projects. He leaves behind heirlooms the family will cherish for a lifetime.

For the last 30 years, he was married to his wife, Marilyn. They owned Main Street Flowers and Gifts for 13 years. In their retirement, they enjoyed traveling the world. He loved spending time visiting with his neighbors in the courtyard, his happy place.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; six children, Paul Hatler, Randy (Susan) Hatler, Scott (Val) Hatler, Gerald (Charyce) Hatler, Bryan (Tammy) Dooley, and Tama (James) Scott; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Craig Hatler, Crista Else, Andy Hatler, Molly Bradshaw, David Uhl and Bryan Uhl.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Penny Ann Hatler; and his brother, Alan Hatler.
