Jeret John Pospeshil, 39, of Rapid City, formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at his home in Rapid City, after a brave battle with mental illness.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. Burial will follow Tuesday afternoon in Grimton Cemetery, rural Orchard, Neb. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Funeral Home in Sioux City. Jeret was born on July 6, 1978, in Sioux City, to Jerry and Judie Pospeshil. Jeret had lived in Rapid City for almost 15 years. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School (class of ’97) in Sioux City and from Dana College in Blair, Neb., with a business degree. Jeret played four years of college football as a tight end, and was captain of his team his senior year. After graduating, he was employed by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a sales representative for nine years. He was currently employed by Boom Construction and Development as a business manager.

In his spare time, Jeret enjoyed hunting, fishing (especially with his boys) and spending time with his many friends, family and three children. He was also an avid Husker football fan.

Jeret is survived by his three children, Ty, Jace and Grace; his father, Jerry Pospeshil (Kathy Quinn) of Sioux City; his grandmother, Myrna Tuttle of Sioux City; brother Jade (Shelly) Pospeshil of Johnston, Iowa; sister, Jewell (Todd) Young of Urbandale, Iowa; nephews, Mason Pospeshil and Jaden Young; nieces, Maddi Pospeshil and Lillian Young; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jeret was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Judie Pospeshil; and grandparents, Harold and Lil Pospeshil and Bill Tuttle.

Jeret’s children were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Jeret’s kind spirit, passion for sports, love of others, and zest for life will live on through them.
