South Sioux City – Gaylen J. Meeves, 39, rural South Sioux City, died Wednesday, December 27, 1989, at his residence.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City with the Rev. Gary DeGeest, pastor of United Methodist Church in Smithland officiating. Burial will be in Smithland City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today with the family present from 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mr. Meeves was born March 9, 1950 at Mapleton, Iowa and graduated from Westwood High School in 1968. He moved to South Sioux City in 1980. He owned and operated Highway 77 Salvage, rural South Sioux City.

Survivors include a son, Donnie and a daughter Gaylene both of Sioux City; his parents, John C. and LaVone Meeves of Smithland, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Herman Eichhorn of Sioux City and a sister, Marlene Hinds of Elk Point, South Dakota.
