Long Time Resident Dies
John Miller, Former City Employee, Expires

Lived Here For 39 Years
Deceased Came To This State 65 Years Ago – Survived by His Wife, Five Sons and Two Daughters – Funeral Plans Incomplete

John Miller, 619 West Fifth Street, a resident of Sioux City for 39 years, died Wednesday morning at his home of apoplexy. He was 83 years old. Mr. Miller had lived in Iowa for 65 years.

The aged resident was born in New York, May 3, 1839. While a resident here Mr. Miller was employed for a number of years by the street car company and later became an employee of the city. He retired several years ago.

Sixty-five years ago Mr. Miller came west from New York and settled on a farm near Manchester, Iowa. He continued to farm at Manchester until coming to Sioux City.

In Addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by five sons, William Miller, of California; John, Andrew, Samuel and Oscar Miller, all of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. May Villiers and Mrs. Carl Coleman, both of Sioux City.

The body is being held at the Samuels Bros. undertaking parlors pending funeral arrangements.
