Foreign Woman Dies Alone And In Agony
Miss C. Bruinisfl, Enroute From Holland to Stickney, S.D., Fatally Taken

Miss C. Bruinisfl, a native of Holland, who was en route to Stickney, South Dakota directly from the old country, died at the Vendome Hotel at 8:30 o’clock this morning following a sudden attack of illness. The circumstances surrounding her death caused Coroner J.E. Garver to hold a post mortem examination, which revealed the cause of death to be a pulmonary abscess of the lobe of the right lung, rupturing into the bronchial tubes and causing suffocation. The women appeared to be about 28 years old.

She arrived in Sioux City shortly after 11 o’clock last night and was piloted to the Vendome by Patrolman H. Jensen. Patrolman Jensen stated today that the woman complained of pains, but, being unable to speak English and Jensen being acquainted with only a smattering of her own tongue, but was unable to discern the seriousness of her illness. She was taken to a restaurant and consumed a good meal. Her illness did not appear to be critical, according to the night clerk of the hotel. She was placed in a room and Jensen left his flash light with her for fear she might be ignorant of the use of gas.

The policeman returned to the hotel early this morning to accompany Miss Bruinisfl to the train which would have taken her to her destination. She responded twice to the call of the clerk, but did not appear in the lobby. The patrolmen finally went to her room and found her seriously sick. He hurried to the police station to report the matter and summon a physician. Returning at once to the woman’s room he found her dead.
