Civil War Veteran Dies
W.A. Clough Succumbs To Complications
Lived Here Forty Years
Widely Known from Connection with Motion Picture Theaters—
Did His Bit During Big War as Associated Press Messenger

W.A. Clough Died 1920

W.A. Clough, 79 years old, a civil war veteran and resident of Sioux City for forty years, died at 10:30 o’clock last night at his home, 910 Pearl Street, of complications. He had been ill two months.

Mr. Clough, besides being a member of General Hancock post, G.A.R., served patriotically during the war with Germany despite his age, as a messenger for the Associated Press between the offices of The Journal and Tribune.

For a number of years Mr. Clough was a ticket taker at motion picture houses and for a long period was connected with the “Kluff” theater in Fourth Street.

The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons, one of whom, Clifford Clough, lives in Sioux City and one daughter.

Funeral arrangements will be held up pending word from the son and daughter who live outside Sioux City.

Mr. Clough was active among war veterans.
