John W. Brown

John W. Brown, 85, last of a family of 13 children, died Thursday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Berke, 4905 Glenn. The body is in the Nelson-Berger Funeral home.

Mr. Brown was born December 21, 1853, at Genesco, Illinois, where he grew to manhood. Then he moved to Blairstown, Iowa, where he farmed several years before moving in 1882 in a covered wagon to Lohrville, Iowa, where he located on a farm.

In 1910, Mr. Brown bought a farm at Parker, South Dakota where he lived until 1915 when he retired. He was married to Clara Thoman, February 15, 1877.

Survivors include the following children; Mrs. Burke, with whom he had made his home the last few years, O.L. Brown of Kalispbell, Mont., Mrs. Oscar Peterson of Kalispbell, R.V. Brown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Glenn R. Brown of Detroit, Mich., and Merle J. Brown of Vermillion, South Dakota.
