Nicola A. “Nicki” Matney, 45, of Sioux City died Monday, June 15, 1998 at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Christy Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Matney was born December 26, 1952 in Sioux City, the daughter of Harold and Arlone (Rader) Malcom. She attended schools in Allen, Nebraska and South Sioux City and graduated from Lincoln east High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated from Western Iowa Tech Community College School of Nursing.

She married Edward H. Matney on December 21, 1969, in Veracuna, Mexico. She was employed with Morningside and Colonial Manors, Dr. James Walton’s medical clinic and the Grandview Medical Clinic in South Sioux City. The couple were co-owners of Matney’s Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Edward of South Sioux City and Nichols of Sioux City; two daughters, Melanie and her husband Ray Fowler and Amy, all of Sioux City, her mother of Sioux City, a sister and her husband, Rolynne and Mark Allard of Sioux City, a brother and his wife, Scott and Cheryll Malcom of Dakota City, a special family friend, Barb Condon of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Cody, Brianna and Tyler Fowler, and her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Matney of South Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her father and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
