Loretta Katherine "Sugar" Bentson, 78, of Sioux City, died Monday, April 16, 2018, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mater Dai Parrish Nativity Center, with the Rev. Brad Pelzel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present after 5 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 6 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.

Loretta was born in Sioux City, on Dec. 6, 1939, the daughter of Raymond and Etta (Johnson) Simeon. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School with the class of 1958.

She was united in marriage with Don F. Bentson on Sept. 12, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City. Loretta worked as a secretary for several different businesses in Sioux City before becoming a huge help to her husband in starting his business in 1975.

She was an active member of Mater Dai Parrish Nativity Center. Loretta was a very caring person, who loved all of her children and cherished the time she could spend with each of them. She loved to paint scenery pictures, travel, play cards, and always looked forward to her sister trips.

Her memory will always be cherished by her husband of 57 years, Don; her daughter, Kathleen Bentson of Sioux City; her sons, Steven Bentson and his wife, Kelli of Lawton, Iowa, and Jeffery Bentson and his wife, Amanda of Sioux City; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Patricia Wiggs, Marlene Kruse, and Ginger Blatchford; and three brothers, John Simeon, Chuck Simeon, and James Simeon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Ann Frank; and a brother, Raymond Simeon.
