Sioux City Journal
25 July 2005

Lloyd Mansfield, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Monday, July 11, 2005, in Tucson.

Services were held 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, at St. Thomas the Apostle in Tucson.

Lloyd was born on a farm just outside Sioux City during the Great Depression. He worked for Montgomery Wards. He was also a competitive welterweight boxer. He won all his matches except for one, that boxer went on to win the Golden Gloves Championship.

He quit boxing when he met the love of his life, Imogene, in 1940. They were married later that same year. Lloyd sold insurance for Prudential until 1949, when he started his own real estate company in Sioux City, Mansfield-Sandman Realty, a thriving business.

Lloyd decided to move the family to Denver, Colo., in 1958. He sold real estate for Moore Realty until 1964. He then started Mansfield Realty. The small company grew to be one of the most productive in the Denver market. In 1980, he merged his company with Century 21 Real Estate.

In 1984, he and Imogene moved to sunny Tucson. It was there that he enjoyed more time at home and 365 days a year of golf. Lloyd worked for a few Tucson real estate firms until he found the right fit at Prudential Aegis Realty. He sold real estate there for 12 years, making it a grand total of 55 years selling real estate.

In the last couple of years, Lloyd won the Senior Olympics gold medal for golf in three states (Arizona, California and Colorado). He was a gentleman, a mentor and father figure to many and a family man with a heart of gold.

Survivors include his bride of 65 years, Imogene; son, Gary and his wife, Sue; son, Mike and his three daughters, Melissa, her husband, Chad, Angie and her soon-to-be husband, Michael and Kelly and her husband, Lance, and her daughter (great-granddaughter), Iris; daughter, Maryjean and her husband, Jim and their daughter, Lacey; son, Rob and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Connie and her husband, Glenn and their children, Dustin and Kindra; daughter, Paula and her husband, Larry and their son, Tyler and son, Tim and his wife, Maria. Lloyd is also survived by his brothers and sister, Johnny, Larry, Donna, Pat and Vincent.

Donations may be made to Hospice Family Care at 3703 N. Swan Rd., Tucson, AZ.
