John J. Houlton, 60, of Minneapolis, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, July 21, 2005, in Minneapolis.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Guenther officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

John was born on Sept. 21, 1944, in Akron, Iowa, to Leo and Ella (Trautt) Houlton. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School in 1962. After graduation, he was employed at Younkers as a shoe salesman. Later, he was self-employed with Dan Haster in a construction business until he was disabled.

John enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include four siblings, Colleen Martin and her husband, Terry of Sioux City, Larry Houlton and his wife, Judy of Omaha, Neb., Mike Houlton of Sioux City, and Sharon Jarman and her husband, Dan of Sioux City; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Houlton.
