Boulder City, Nev., formerly Sioux City

Mary Lou "Mick" McCleery of Boulder City, formerly of Sioux City, passed on March 23, 2018, in her home. Her family was at her bedside.

Mick was born on July 12, 1940, in Sioux City, to Roy and Marcella Vanderham. While still in her teenage years, she met and married Charles "Mac" McCleery and shortly thereafter followed him to his first duty assignment in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon retiring, they settled in Eugene, Ore., and later moved to Vancouver, Wash.

Mick was very talented and enjoyed numerous crafts, to include crocheting, porcelain doll making, Ukranian egg making, and cross-stitching. Her favorite was cross-stitching. She framed them, and then presented them as gifts to family and friends. Many of her beautiful creations are displayed on the walls in her room for us to remember her by.

After Mac's retirement from his second career in 1994, they sold their home and began traveling in their motor home. They traveled for five years and decided to settle down again, but in a warmer climate. They built a new home in North Las Vegas, Nev. near family. Mac's health went downhill and Mick was his sole care giver until his death in October 2007. She moved in with her older son, Tony, and his wife in Boulder City after they built a new home there in October 2014.

Mick is survived by and deeply missed by her children, Tony, Terry, and Brian; their wives; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mick and Mac were preceded in death by their son, Tim in May 1980
