Marlin W. Hoffman, 62, of Sioux City, formerly of Westfield, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 19, 2018, at his home in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Westfield Township Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m., all at Rexwinkel-Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. A reception will follow the burial at Country Celebrations Event Center, 5606 Hamilton Blvd. in Sioux City. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Marlin Wayne Hoffman was born Oct. 6, 1955, in Akron, the son of Daryled and Helen (Lias) Hoffman. He was raised in Westfield where he attended school.

Following his schooling, he began his career as an over the road truck driver, working for several businesses. He retired due to his health.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City and the Knights of Columbus. He has been a friend of “Bill W” since 2004. Through the years, he enjoyed racing stock cars at Interstate Speedway and attending dirt races and watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a proud Grandpa to his 16 grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them fishing and hunting. Marlin will also be remembered for his cooking, especially his “Famous Goulash.”

Survivors include his five children, Garret Hoffman of Sioux City, Sheri (Richard) Huss of Sergeant Bluff, Rocky Hoffman of Sioux City, Clay Hoffman of Sioux City and Tanika (Treg) Hoffman of North Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; three sisters, Sue (Jim) Leuenhagen of Lincoln, Neb., Rosanne (David) Moffatt of Aurora, Colo. and Denise (Clyde) Tarrence of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Pauline Lias; paternal grandparents, Basil and Gladys Hoffman; and his uncle, Norman Lias.
