Patrick J. Kallsen, 49, of rural Sioux City, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 15, 2018.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Patrick was born the son of Robert F. and Margaret A. (Morley) Kallsen on Jan. 12, 1969, in Sioux City. He graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. Pat married Amy Gosch on Oct. 9, 1993, in Sioux City.

Pat dedicated his life to helping those with mental illness. He truly enjoyed his work as a case manager and therapist. He lived a life of service, dedicating his time to volunteering at many different community agencies, benefitting people of all ages and backgrounds. He also enjoyed camping, tinkering, and visiting. Pat had a great sense of humor, and he was able to see humor in just about everything, including himself. Perhaps, most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, visiting and celebrating life to the fullest.

Pat was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sioux City, and was a founding member of St. Michael’s Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Jaycees.

Pat is survived by his wife, Amy Kallsen of Sioux City; children, Aaron (Becky) Kallsen, Tyler, Ambere, and Alexys Kallsen; granddaughter, Nuella Kallsen; siblings, Mary (Drew) Kouris, Nancy (Larry) Bower, Bill (Cindy) Kallsen, Jim (Kris) Kallsen, Susan (Don) Kalin, and Rich (Mary) Kallsen; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and too many other wonderful family members and friends to list.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Ashlee; and his infant granddaughter, Maisy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
