Thomas W. Brown, 41, 314 Plymouth Street, a veteran of the First World War, died Sunday night at an Iowa City Hospital following a lingering illness.

Born March 6, 1900, at Greenwood, South Dakota, Mr. Brown later moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota, where he enlisted in the navy. He served three years during the war and after the war enlisted in the army. He was stationed with the army at Hawaii for three years.

A member of Monahan post, American Legion, Mr. Brown had been a resident of Sioux City the last 13 years and was an employee of the Sioux City Stockyards company. He was married September 15, 1928.

Surviving are the widow, Irene; two daughters, Betty Jean and Pauline, both of Sioux City; two sons, Warren Dickie and Pierre, both of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Ross of Granite Falls and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Brown of Granite Falls.

The body was to arrive here today. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at W. Harry Christy’s Chapel in Morningside. Rev. R.A. Burrows, pastor of the Third Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the American Legion plot in Graceland Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by Monahan Post.

Pallbearers will be L.W. Jenny, George Cobb, Matt Curran, Ralph Comfort, Fred Fulton and Carl Nagel.
