Sioux Cityan Loses Life In Car Accident

Fruit Salesman, E.E. Jackson, Is Train Crash Victim

E.E. Jackson, 2110 Douglas Street, a salesman for Galinsky Bros. here, was killed about 1 p.m. today near Tripp, South Dakota, when his automobile and a train crashed.

Details of the accident were not immediately available here.

Mr. Jackson, who had been employed by the Galinsky Company for about 10 years, is survived by his widow and a daughter, Doris, a student at Central High School.

The accident was said to have occurred about three and one-half miles northwest of Tripp. The train was the Sioux City-Mitchell Milwaukee line passenger train.

The Tribune-Journal correspondent at Tripp visited the scene of the accident and said that Mr. Jackson’s automobile had been dragged about 15 or 20 feet, one entire side of the car being ripped off.

Mr. Jackson’s body lay partially on the ground and partially within the wrecked automobile. He seemingly died almost instantly although the body was not badly crushed.

The crossing at which the Sioux City man died was on highway 18 between Delmont and Tripp. Mr. Jackson was driving toward Tripp, according to Sheriff Harold H. Haar of Hutchinson County.

The body was not moved at once in order to permit Coroner Mike I. Walter in inspect the scene. The train continued its journey to Mitchell.
