Catherine Marriott, 75, of Sioux City died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Leroy Seuntjens, the Rev. John Brennan and the Rev. Thomas Geelan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4 p.m. said by the St. Therese’s Study Club and the Carmelite Guild Board and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., all at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marriott was born July 10, 1922, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles and Kathryn (Fleming) Brennan. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1940 and attended business school in Sioux City. She was employed in the payroll division, civilian personnel, at the Sioux City Air Base during World War II.

She married Dr. Charles M. Marriott on July 12, 1945, in Sioux City. The couple lived in Sioux City until 1948, when they moved to Omaha, Nebraska. They returned to Sioux City in 1958.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she was a Lay Minister of Communion, the church Confraternity, the St. Therese Study Club, the Woodbury Medical Auxiliary, the Birthright of Siouxland and the Carmelite Guild Board. She was a volunteer coordinator for the Soup Kitchen and a volunteer for Meals of Wheels. She recently received a service award from the Woodbury Medical Society Alliance for many years of service.

Survivors include her husband; three sons and their wives, William C. “Will” and Terri of Phoenix, Ariz., James D. “Jim” and Marilyn of Omaha and Dr. John T. and Rebecca of Sioux City; five daughters, Mary C. and her husband Dr. Fred Gawecki of Papillion, Nebraska, Kathryn N. “Kathy” Marriott of Arvada, Colorado, Margaret J. “Meg” Marriott of Omaha, Judy A. and her husband Dr. Roger Laushman of Oberlin, Ohio and Colleen M. and her husband Schott Schmidt of Omaha; four brothers, Robert and his wife Stacia Brennan of Wausau, Wisconsin, James and his wife Mary Brennan of Janesville, Wisconsin, Rev. C. John Brennan of Sioux City and Richard and his wife Jean Brennan of Sioux City; three sisters, Mary Eunice and her husband Al Strozdas of Springfield, Ohio, Sr. Jean Brennan O.P., of Dubuque, Iowa and Sr. Margaret “Peg” Brennan O.P. of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin and 18 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Dr. John Heffron, Ted Alvey, Dr. James Goebel, Dr. Tim McCoy, Dr. Ken Keane and Charles Marriott.

Memorials may be directed to hospice of Siouxland.
