Jason A. Bruggeman, 21, of South Sioux City died Friday, June 12, 1998, at a Sioux City Hospital following a year-long illness with leukemia.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dale Jirousek officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. today with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. Nathan Houfek officiating at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Mr. Bruggeman was born October 29, 1979, in Sioux City, the son of James A. and Susan K. (DeGraaff) Bruggeman. He was raised in South Sioux City and graduated from the Special Education Department of the South Sioux City Community Schools. He was employed by the Region IV Adult Workshop in South Sioux City.

He was an active member of the South Sioux City Special Olympics team and was also a member of First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. He enjoyed basketball and wrestling and was a avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Susan and Charles A. Twyford of South Sioux City; a sister, Renae Bruggeman and her fiancée, Chad Kudym, of Lincoln, Nebraska; a half-brother, Shannon Bruggeman; two step-sisters, Laurie and her husband, Mike Byrne and Lisa Sampson, all of Sioux City; his grandparents, Henry and Treva DeGraaff of Hubbard, Nebraska, Paul and Ruth Bruggeman and Lyle and Hazel Twyford, all of Sioux City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Pallbearers will be Doug Carter, Steve Stolze, Tom Sherlock, Mike Byrne, Don wells and Don Stolze, Jr.
