Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, 4600 Hamilton Blvd. followed by a luncheon reception at the church. Child care will be available.

Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Rosalyn, the daughter of Dr. Andrew and Evelyn (Colwell) McBride, was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 26, 1937. She spent her teen years in Des Moines and attended Roosevelt High School, where she met her husband. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in dietetics in 1959 from Iowa State University and married Jack that same year on June 20th. She worked in dietetics until 1960. She and Jack spent time in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Evanston, Illinois, over the next seven years while Jack finished his medical training. During that time Mike, Jackie and Susan were born.

The couple then moved the family to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, where Jack served as an obstetrician and captain in the U.S. Air Force. In 1968, the Bristow family moved to Sioux City, where she spent the rest of her life. During the 1980’s, she welcomed her father, Andrew McBride, into the family home and cared for him at the end of his life. She also launched a successful real estate career for which she received awards for Top Listing Associate, Top Producer and Million Dollar Producer at Homeland Realty in 1990.

She also was an active member of the P.E.O. Chapter GR., Fortnightly Study Club and Woodbury Medical Society Alliance among other activities. Additionally, she contributed to the First Congregational Church in various roles, including as deacon and a member of the Growth and Search Committees. Rosie and Jack loved to travel, sail and spend time at the family cabin in northern Minnesota, where she organized family reunions during each of the last three years of her life.

In 2000, Jackie Yaeger moved her family from LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Sioux City to be closer to her parents. The Yaegers’ presence in Sioux City had been a blessing for the entire family.

Rosie is remembered by her family and loved ones as a generous, kind and vivacious person.
